Life is endless melancholy.|
The anguish that the human soul suffers from is the avenue leading to inspiration. An intimate portrait depicting the woefulness of life, the burdens of grief and the inconsistency of existence. We desperately spend our lives grasping for ropes to pull ourselves either to or from illusion, but it is inevitable that we will lose our hold and fall deeper into the chasm which we futilely try to escape. And it is here that we will finally vanish, after a lifetime of slowly fading.
We are all spectators , and we are all accountable for what we choose to ignore or push to the forefront. The dark can only be tackled when we throw our fear and misunderstanding of it aside and face it head on. Only then can some light be shed, and in that be given some insight into the human psyche, both our own and that of the mass.
There are ceaseless stories of loss carried within all of us. These are not my stories alone, in that sense there is no isolation here. They are the stories that I bear witness to, not only throughout my own life to feed memory, but those stories and broken lives that I witness on a daily basis. It's not the job of an artist to solely depict their own ideals and views, but it is also their duty to give the viewer something of emotional substance; a stepping stone to possible self-enlightenment, or in the least the self-evaluation and relatability.
I work to tell these stories with brutal honesty, while maintaining the poetic symbolism they deserve.
I believed it would have been in vain to try to sculpt scenarios that I felt were true to life, so rather I began finding ways of capturing the element I knew was absolutely necessary; the unyielding sorrow that every soul experiences, and revealing what is hidden deep within every human heart - unforgiving despair.
The soul of inspiration lives within the body of misery.
